Mr Mews Prepares for Labor Day
Mr Mews considers the weekend ahead of him. "I think I shall relax this weekend. I will sit back, sip a Manhattan, and review the events of the week. Much has occured: a power outage, an unfinished sonnet, more canine additions to the building, and my personal coup de grace-the elimination of my poetry rejection letters. Quite a week, my friends. Quite a week."

Mr Mews - Our Bein has a 25 year old bottle of port that has just been sitting around undisturbed at about 70 degrees F for all that time.
ReplyDeleteHe is wondering if there is any chance it is still worth drinking, and if so, what would be an appropriate ceremonial time to open it and find out...
And if it is still worth drinking, is there a standard (or otherwise appropriate) speech involved?
Indeed, much to contemplate. May we join you with a tot of rum?
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed! Perhaps some meditation too?
ReplyDeleteAyla and Iza, the only way to find out. Open it and do enjoy. And if, God, forbid, the bottle is spoilt do spit it out. Only you can know for sure. As far as speech, I do insist that you use your best words. I have faith that you'll make a toast just fine.
ReplyDeleteKatnip L. Yes, I do enjoy rum on a hot summer evening although they are few and far between in my own dwindling summer days. I do enjoy a Mojito now and then I must say.
MoMo. Yes, yes indeed. Drinks come after meditation. There is a proper order, no?
Oh yes..and before meditation as well my dear Mews.
ReplyDeleteIs there a ceremony fur poetry rejekshun letters?
ReplyDeleteDoes it involve drink?
Love & Purrs,
KC
Yes indeed it involves drink. Not too much of course, moderation is one of a gentleman's best assets. Some matches and a wastebasket and a good deal of self confidence is all one needs.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Mr. Mews - we are very happy to meet you! Our human says you remind her very much of her former kitty, Fletcher, who was a true gentleman. Unfortunately, we are not as civilized so we hope you'll bear with us.
ReplyDeleteWe hope you're enjoying the long weekend, despite the rejection letters -
Purrs from Franklin, Dobby, and Tasha
Wecom Mishkat et al. We are quite enjoying our weekend, and the rejection letters are now in their rightful place-the waste station. Welcome!
